23 Things End Summer

I did have a tough time getting starting with my 23 Things, but once I did start I was amazed at the number of tools available on Web 2.0. I still have questions regarding students using these resources, and districts blocking the web sites and tools. But, as we progress through the Web 2.0 era, perhaps districts will adapt and allow access. I have enjoyed the 23 Things process and the contacts I have made.

Creative Commons

I love this idea. This will revolutionize how we share information.

eBooks

I like eBooks, but our students and staff, have limited space available to them on the district server, so downloading an ebook may require much of their space.

Podcasts

I had trouble connecting to podcasts.net, and podcastalley.com has many podcasts that can definitely not be used in an educational setting, at least not at the elementary or middle school level. Having said that I do think podcasts created by the students are an excellent educational tool. I plan on including podcasts in more of my lessons this year.

YouTube and TeacherTube

I think there's more value in TeacherTube than YouTube, when it comes to an educational setting. I struggle with parental concerns, and district concerns with using YouTube. Has anyone had experience using YouTube in your class or library?

I received an email from California yesterday from Connie, responding to my questions on the calcurriculum wiki. How cool is that?

LibraryThing

That was easy, as anyone can see I prefer non-fiction to fiction. Many of the books I read are for research purposes for my writing. LibraryThing appears to be like Shelfari. Would I be correct?
